Vellum
Senior Product Designer
Help us define how AI products are built
At Vellum, we’re building the platform that lets the world’s best teams ship AI products faster and with more confidence. As a Senior Product Designer, you’ll be at the forefront of defining how humans build with AI—crafting the interfaces, workflows, and systems that make a complex new category feel simple, powerful, and intuitive.
This role is as much about understanding people as it is about designing products. You’ll spend meaningful time with customers—uncovering their needs, mapping their workflows, and distilling feedback into insights that drive the product forward. You’ll bring those insights to life through research, design, and rapid iteration—shaping experiences that solve real problems for real users.
We’re looking for someone who thrives in ambiguity, moves fast, and sweats the details without losing sight of the bigger picture. Someone who cares deeply about customer problems, and who wants to invent—not just polish—the UX patterns that will define a new category.
If you’re energized by the chance to deeply understand users and then design the future of how they build with AI, you’ll fit right in.
What you’ll do
Lead product discovery efforts: run interviews, synthesize insights, and validate solutions with customers.
Own end-to-end design for complex, technical workflows: research, ideation, prototyping, and final design.
Translate abstract AI concepts and customer needs into interfaces that feel clear, usable, and approachable.
Lead the evolution of Vellum’s design system, ensuring consistency, scalability, and speed.
Rapidly prototype ideas in Figma (and sometimes code), validating quickly with customers and teammates.
Collaborate tightly with engineers and PMs to ship high-impact features fast.
Continuously refine based on user feedback, data, and your instincts for great product experiences.
What success looks like
Customers feel understood and see Vellum as solving their real problems.
Insights from discovery and feedback consistently shape roadmap and design decisions.
Complex AI workflows feel intuitive and cohesive, even for non-technical users.
A robust design system accelerates development while raising the UX bar.
You become a trusted partner across product, design, and engineering.
What you’ll bring
A strong portfolio of product design work, ideally in complex technical domains (dev tools, data/infra platforms, or AI tooling a plus).
Experience leading discovery and usability efforts: customer interviews, prototyping, testing.
Deep expertise in Figma and a track record of building design systems.
A systems thinker’s mindset: you can zoom into pixel-level details and zoom out to big-picture flows.
Comfort with speed: you bias toward shipping and know how to cut the right corners without sacrificing quality.
Strong collaboration skills: you communicate clearly, give and receive feedback directly, and build trust quickly.
Hunger to win in a competitive market and the willingness to do whatever it takes.
Why you might love this
You want to design category-defining software that shapes how people build with AI.
You care about customer problems and want your work to make a real impact.
You’ll work alongside a high-performing engineering team eager to bring your designs to life.
You thrive in high-ownership, high-trust environments where you’re empowered to make big decisions.
You like moving fast without sacrificing craft.
You’re energized by big challenges and want your work to shape an industry.
