About the role:

Forter is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer with a focus on Database Solutions to join our Data Stores team. We are looking for a proactive, detail-oriented individual to be responsible for designing, implementing, and delivering database solutions that are the core of Forter products. If you are passionate about database solutions and want to contribute to a dynamic and innovative team, we would love to hear from you.

As a member of the data stores team, you will work alongside highly technical software engineers shaping the way Forter stores vast amounts of data. You will be entrusted with the designing, implementation, and delivery of database solutions that are the right fit for the requirements. Your unique perspective and experience will bring innovative ideas to the team and help us deliver long-term database solutions.

Some things you should know about the team:

As the Data Stores team, we are responsible for implementing and delivering database solutions that handle and store petabytes of data. Our focus is on scalability, low latency, high throughput, and geo-distributed database systems, capable of ingesting terabytes of data every second. We provide seamless, reliable, and scalable database solutions, which are a key component for Forter's Machine Learning Models that deliver highly accurate, real-time risk decisions to protect our customers from fraud. Continually adapting to the evolving landscape and trends in databases, we implement new database offerings to ensure Forter's innovative solutions stay ahead in the market.

What you'll be doing:

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable, reliable, and efficient database solutions.

  • Lead and mentor engineers to ensure the seamless operation of our database systems.

  • Investigate and implement performance and cost optimizations for our database solutions.

  • Create or introduce tooling and processes to support the operational aspects required for maintaining large database solutions.

  • Contribute to the continual improvement of our database infrastructure.

  • Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies for databases, and implement new database offerings as needed.

  • Participate in on-call rotations to ensure the availability and performance of our database systems.

What you'll need:

  • Proven experience in designing and maintaining large-scale database solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of database principles, distributed systems, and database management.
  • Experience with both Relational and NoSQL databases, managing Terabytes of Data.
  • Experience with MySQL, Postgres, or MariaDB.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g: Aerospike, Cassandra, ScyllaDB, DynamoDB, ElasticSearch)
  • Experience with AWS Infrastructure and database products.
  • Strong Linux troubleshooting experience.
  • Proficiency in Bash, Python, or Go.
  • Experience with configuration management (Chef, ansible, terraform, or cloud formation)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills.

It would be cool if you have:

  • Experience with OLAP databases (e.g: Druid, Pinot, Clickhouse)
  • Experience with Kubernetes

Hybrid work:

At Forter, we have embraced a hybrid work model that combines the benefits of in-office collaboration with the flexibility of remote work. As part of this exciting approach, Team members are invited to work from the office at least 2 days per week.
