As the Government Partnerships Lead at Anthropic, you’ll drive adoption of safe, ethical AI systems by securing strategic deals with government agencies. You’ll leverage your consultative sales expertise to propel revenue growth while becoming a trusted partner to public sector customers, helping them deploy AI tools safely and responsibly.
In collaboration with GTM, product, and marketing teams, you’ll continuously refine our value proposition, sales methodology, and market positioning to ensure differentiated value across the landscape. The ideal candidate will have a passion for developing new market segments, pinpointing high-potential opportunities, and executing strategies to capture them. By driving deployment of Anthropic's emerging products, you will help public agencies obtain advanced capabilities while also advancing the ethical development of AI.

Responsibilities:

  • Win new government business and drive revenue growth for Anthropic. Find your way to the right decision makers, educate them on safe AI practices, and help agencies succeed with Anthropic. You’ll own the full sales cycle, from initial outreach to launch
  • Design and execute innovative sales strategies to meet and exceed revenue quotas from the public sector. Analyze market landscapes, trends, and dynamics to translate high-level plans into targeted sales activities, partnerships, and campaigns
  • Spearhead expansion into new agencies and levels of government by pinpointing high-potential opportunities and executing capture strategies
  • Inform product roadmaps and features by gathering customer feedback and conveying public sector needs. Provide insights that strengthen our value proposition and enhance the user experience
  • Continuously refine the sales methodology by incorporating learnings into playbooks, templates, and best practices tailored to government customers. Identify process improvements that optimize sales productivity and consistency

You may be a good fit if you have:

  • 5+ years selling emerging technologies to government agencies with a consultative, solutions-oriented approach
  • A track record of managing complex sales cycles and securing strategic deals by understanding technical requirements and public sector dynamics
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate complex bureaucratic stakeholder groups, building consensus and providing innovative solutions
  • Extensive experience negotiating highly complex agreements with multiple government stakeholders
  • Proven experience exceeding revenue targets in fast-paced organizations by effectively managing an evolving pipeline and sales process
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to present confidently from staff-level to senior officials
  • A strategic, analytical approach to assessing markets combined with creative, tactical execution to capture opportunities
  • Passion for ensuring frontier AI systems are developed safely and deployed ethically across the public sector

Annual Salary:

  • The expected salary range for this position is $270k - $350k. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, and it includes both the annual base salary and sales bonuses.
Logistics
Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in our office at least 25% of the time.

Compensation and Benefits*
Anthropic’s compensation package consists of three elements: salary, equity, and benefits. We are committed to pay fairness and aim for these three elements collectively to be highly competitive with market rates.
Equity - On top of this position's salary (listed above), equity will be a major component of the total compensation. We aim to offer higher-than-average equity compensation for a company of our size, and communicate equity amounts at the time of offer issuance.

The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors, including where you place on our internal performance ladders, which is based on factors including past work experience, relevant education, and performance on our interviews or in a work trial.

We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills. We do not have boundaries between engineering and research, and we expect all of our technical staff to contribute to both as needed.
